Introduction
Meet Joft
Joft is a script for Autodesk Maya. It helps to convert soft selection into skin weights to the selected joint, And it have other feature like skinning multiple joints, Create a new joint from soft selection and just create a new joint over selected vertex.
It makes rigging/skinning a fun thing.
The script creates joints over the previous skin cluster or creates a new one automatically, So it will work with unrigged models as well as fully finished rigs.
Setup
⚠️ Warning: Joft does not support folder or file names containing special characters or spaces. Please ensure a clean and organized folder structure for optimal functionality.
Installation
You can keep the scripts anywhere you want.
To Install Just drag and drop drag_me_into_maya.mel file into your maya viewport.
Thats it, The Joft launcher button will be created in your custom shelf.
Usage

TO CONVERT SOFT SELECTION TO A SPECIFIC JOINT
Open your rigged character in Maya.
Make a soft selection by holding 'B' on the keyboard and dragging middle mouse button.
Shift-select the joint which you want the skin to be added.
Click on "Soft selection to skin weights" button in Joft.
TO SKIN MULTIPLE JOINTS AUTOMATICALLY
To use this function you have to first specify the "Object".
Select the main mesh and click "Object" button in Joft.
Now just select multiple joints holding the shift key in Maya.
Set the "Soft selection value" in Joft as you need.
Press the "Skin multiple joints" button in Joft.
TO MAKE A NEW JOINT FROM SOFT SELECTION
To use this function you have to first specify the "Root Joint"
Select the root joint (Which the new joint will be parented to) and click "Root Joint" button in Joft.
Make a soft selection by holding 'B' on the keyboard and dragging middle mouse button.
Click on "Soft selection to new joint" button in Joft.
TO MAKE JUST A JOINT
To make just a joint without any skin cluster just select a vertex/ face/edge.
And press "Vertex selections to new joints" button
